Betway is a large-scale mobile sportsbook built to support fast decision-making across pre-match and live betting contexts.
This work focused on improving clarity and consistency across core betting journeys — from browsing events and markets through to selection management and bet slip confidence — while establishing scalable patterns that function across sports and market types.

The Challenge
Designing for Betway meant operating within a large-scale sportsbook ecosystem spanning traditional sports, live betting, eSports and horse racing — each with distinct behaviours, data density and interaction demands.
The primary challenge was maintaining clarity across dense, fast-changing interfaces. Users must quickly scan markets, interpret live states and place bets confidently, often under time pressure.
Balancing consistency with flexibility was essential. Interaction patterns, navigation structures and system feedback needed to feel unified across verticals while adapting to the specific requirements of different betting contexts.
Homepage & Navigation
The homepage serves as the primary entry point into the Betway experience, supporting fast orientation and efficient access to key betting verticals. The design prioritises clarity across both logged-in and logged-out states.
The work focused on:
- Clear hierarchy for events, promotions and navigation
- Consistent behaviour across authentication states
- Predictable menu expansion and interaction feedback
- Seamless movement between verticals
This structure ensures users quickly understand where they are, what is available and how to navigate without friction.
Messaging
Messaging supports player communication, account awareness and promotional engagement. The experience was designed to surface updates clearly without disrupting core betting flows.

eSports Betting
Designing for eSports required adapting established sportsbook patterns to a different pacing, terminology and data structure while maintaining cohesion within the wider Betway ecosystem.

- Preserving visual and behavioural consistency
Horse Racing
Horse racing presents a unique interaction context within the sportsbook, combining dense race data, runner-specific information and time-sensitive betting behaviour. The design needed to support both detailed inspection and rapid bet placement.

- Progressive disclosure of runner details
- Predictable odds selection behaviour
- Quick bet interactions for fast entry
Bet Slip Confidence
The bet slip is a critical interaction point where clarity and predictability directly influence user confidence. Users must understand their selections, stake inputs and any changes affecting their bet before committing.
The design focused on:
- Clear selection summaries and hierarchy
- Predictable add and remove behaviours
- Transparent handling of price and market changes
- Validation and error prevention states
My Bets & Bet Tracking
The My Bets experience supports visibility and control across the full bet lifecycle — from open wagers to settled outcomes. Clarity in status communication is essential so users can quickly understand what is active, resolved or updated.
The design focused on:
- Clear differentiation between open and settled bets
- Legible status indicators and outcome feedback
- Expandable bet history for deeper inspection
- Transparent communication of events such as early payouts
Scalability & System Patterns
Designing for Betway required solutions that scale across betting verticals, feature sets and evolving product requirements. Consistency and reusability were critical to maintaining cohesion while supporting rapid iteration.
The work focused on:
- Defining reusable components and interaction patterns

- Maintaining visual and structural harmony across verticals

Shared foundations — including colour roles, button states, navigation structures and bet tracking patterns — ensure the experience remains predictable, extensible and easy to evolve.

A more consistent and predictable mobile sportsbook experience, supporting faster scanning in market-heavy views, improving clarity during live play and reinforcing confidence through structured bet slip behaviour and scalable design patterns.
